Locksmith 4 Less

Cadillac Locksmith in Memphis, TN

Cadillac’s key and security systems have always reflected the brand’s emphasis on technology. From the early days of Passkey and VATS to the current generation of proximity smart keys with Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology, these vehicles demand more from a locksmith than the average car on the road.
If you own a Cadillac in the Memphis area and you are dealing with a lost key, a dead fob, a lockout, or an ignition problem, Locksmith 4 Less has the GM-specific diagnostic tools and programming software to handle it. We come to your location and get it done on the spot.

Cadillac Services

Locksmith Services for Cadillac Vehicles

We provide the full range of automotive locksmith services for Cadillac owners. Here is what we handle:

Car Key Replacement

Lost or broken Cadillac key? We cut and program a replacement at your location. If you have no working keys at all, we create one from scratch using your vehicle's VIN and onboard data.

Smart Key Programming

Current Cadillac models rely on a proximity fob for keyless entry and push-button start. We program new smart keys so the car detects and accepts them immediately.

Car Key Programming

Older Cadillacs with transponder keys, Passkey III systems, or early CTS and STS models with switchblade-style fobs all require electronic programming to start the vehicle. We carry the tools for every generation of GM's immobilizer platform.

Car Lockout

Locked your keys inside your Cadillac? We use non-destructive entry techniques to get you back in without leaving a mark on the vehicle.

Key Fob Repair and Battery Replacement

Cadillac fob not responding? We test the battery, inspect the circuit board and shell, and either repair the existing fob or replace it entirely.

Ignition Lock Service

Older Cadillacs with a physical ignition cylinder can develop wear-related issues. If the key gets stuck, the cylinder refuses to turn, or the security light stays on, we repair or replace the assembly and reprogram the system.

Key Duplication

Already have one working Cadillac key and want a spare? We duplicate it on-site so you are covered if the original is ever lost.

Cadillac Security Systems Explained

Understanding Your Cadillac's Anti-Theft System

GM has used several different anti-theft platforms across the Cadillac lineup over the years. Knowing which one your car uses helps explain what is involved when you call us.

VATS (Vehicle Anti-Theft System)

Used in Cadillacs through the mid-1990s, including the DeVille, Fleetwood, and Eldorado. The key has a small resistor pellet in the blade. The car measures the resistance and will not start unless it reads the correct value. There are 15 different resistance levels, and the replacement key must match exactly.

Passkey III

GM introduced this system in the late 1990s and used it through the mid-2000s on models like the Seville, DeVille, and early CTS. Instead of a resistor in the key blade, Passkey III uses a transponder chip embedded in the key head. The chip has to be programmed to match the vehicle's body control module (BCM).

Current smart key system

The Escalade, CT4, CT5, XT4, XT5, XT6, and LYRIQ all use a proximity-based smart key fob. The fob communicates wirelessly with the vehicle. Newer models incorporate UWB technology, which provides more precise location detection of the fob to prevent relay theft attacks. We program replacements for all current smart key configurations.

The Escalade Question

A Note for Escalade Owners

The Escalade is by far the Cadillac model we see most often in the Memphis area. It is also one of the most targeted vehicles for theft in the United States, which is a big reason GM has progressively strengthened its key security systems on this model.
If you recently purchased a used Escalade with only one key, getting a second one made now is a smart investment. Replacement Escalade keys are more expensive than most other GM models because of the advanced smart key system, and losing the only key means a significantly more involved replacement process. Having a backup on hand can save you hundreds of dollars and a lot of stress if the worst happens.
We carry Escalade-compatible fobs and programming equipment on our mobile locksmith units and can make a duplicate at your location in Memphis, Germantown, Arlington, or anywhere in the service area.
